Headed for Glass House Mountains today 28/03, showers & overcast, took in the sights & then on to the Australian Zoo. We were told it takes a full day to see so not to visit if it’s raining so we then proceeded to Maleny, did our washing at the laundromat then went for a walk round town. Maleny is small but busy, lots to see & great countryside. Booked into the showground for a few days & picked a nice site on the banks of the Obi Obi creek.
Tuesday dawned overcast again but we took the scooter to Montville 20 k’s away, a couple of showers on the way but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We spent 4 hours wandering around the shops, dashing from shop to shop in the rain. If the weather improves we are going to the zoo tomorrow.
Rained all night, peasoup fog when we got up. Checked the creek behind the van but no change in height. Fog persisted till 10:00 AM. We walked into town, bought a few items then back home, raining again so spent the afternoon watching TV & reading. If the weather improves we are gong to the zoo tomorrow.
O.K. It’s overcast & foggy again but we’re off to the Zoo!
Well, having seen the zoo I would recommend it to everyone, the landscaping of both the animal enclosures & the whole zoo is delightful, with park areas to sit, benches along all the paths, enclosed roo, koala & bird sanctuaries where you enter through a double gate & then wander with the animals, a kids zoo where they feed & touch farm animals & of course, food halls & souvenier shops. We spent 5 ½ hours there then went off to find a place for the night.

Following our camps 6 book, it guided us to a place on the Maroochy river which wasn’t suitable for us, too slopey, so we followed a dirt track which, after a few hundred metres, led us to the very bank of the river with a little wharf, a picnic shed & toilets. Paradise!

Our overnight stop with our own private wharf |
This morning we woke to a beautiful day, at 7:00 we were sitting on the end of the wharf with a cuppa & basking in the sun. It was a pity we had to move on but it was Noosa here we come. Just as well coz here comes the rain again.
