Just a quick couple of days away with the grandkids.
We went to Max & Carol's property to stay. I worried that the children would be bored with nothing to do while we sat around eating & drinking, but low & behold they set off exploring the property, checking out the chickens, playing with the dogs & asking their hosts lots of questions.
We had only been there a couple of hours when Max received a phone call from Joshua & Jemma, who were visiting their grandparents on the next property, asking if they could visit. Well, they arrived on their quads much to the delight of the grandi's. Before long they were the best of friends & being taught the finer points of handling the machines.
As the afternoon wore on Max thought that it would be nice if their grandparents, Norm & Elvie, should join us for an impromptu BBQ. Before long another friend, Roy, arrived and it became a party, Roy had just returned from a prospecting trip at Lightning Ridge and gave the children an impromptu lesson on opals, giving them an opal each at the end of his talk. Before dinner all the children went next door with Norm & Elvie to drop off the quads & to check out the cows, chickens etc., then returned for dinner. It was a great & enjoyable evening.

The next days Max took us out for a drive to the local highlights then back to his place for lunch and the trip home.
Thank you Max & Carol for a great break.
